Gloucester

Gloucester sits just off the Cross-Country route between Bristol and Birmingham, at the end of the Gloucester to Newport Line. Not that many trains from the CCR stop there, and most services are provided First Great Western - trains along the Golden Valley Line to Swindon, others headed to Weymouth and the occasional HST. CrossCountry provides a half-hourly service each direction between Nottingham and Cardiff, and Arriva Trains Wales also operates a service from Cheltenham to Maesteg. It boasts the longest platform in Britain, capable of taking two HSTs end-to-end, but as such trains rarely call there, it just means a long walk. The station facilities are basic - a small café and booking office, and not much in the way of seating.
