When I saw that I was up against a
RFL-3C of equal skill, I thought I'd probably lose, but it ended up
being much closer than I expected.
Somehow I managed to win the battle at range, removing his head armour,
but when I got to close range, an AC10, medium laser and kick to my leg
left me prone, and then another shot took off my arm, leaving me
disabled. My congratulations to LuMPy for being most honourable - a

Woad Warrior's slight
negative rep proved to be an advantage for me, as I was able to win init
for the most part, allowing me to get behind him. However, he knocked
out my PPC, then won init, forcing me to retreat up a mountain so he
couldn't kick my head. {Wob}Cyn, the pilot, then made the mistake of
coming next to be one elevation down, allowing me to kick out his CT.
Thanks to Patryn betting hugely against me, I made a killing from this

I never thought I'd
beat a hunchie when I started, and though I came close, I ended up not
beating a hunchie. I never wanted the Phawk in the first place, and it
turned out to be unsuited to the job - while it managed to eventually
get in a few good hits to Kesa's back, having all weapons in the arms
proved too fragile. I managed to leg the hunchie, but then got quadruple
hip-critted in return, which left us both prone, and sheer weight of
firepower won out, as my arms were blown off and I was left helpless. A
good, close duel. |

Shin demanded that
someone duel him, and unfortunately obscured line of sight prevented me
from using my range advantage as he closed on me, and then some
spectacularly bad rolls made me miss numerous kicks and shots on 5s,
which could probably have swung the battle my way, were I to have legged
him. However, I did die in a building which promptly collapsed on my
dead mech, so at least it got a decent burial. |

This can only be
described as a grudge match - would Klien be avenged by the erstwhile
golfer? I hid in a bush for a while, waiting for the cicada, and then
scoring a few lucky hits to the leg. He retreated after a while, and
lined up a fatal charge at me - over a hill and into my clump of trees.
It all ended in tears as I legged the cicada, but in turn got double-gyroed,
leaving me needing 10s to stand, and only five internals left on my CT.
Sheer luck prevailed, and we both took out an arm at the same time, but
since I still had a leg, I was able to fire, and take revenge for Klien.
A great duel. |

This wasn't the
greatest of duels - the STK-4P is rather under-bved. I was also very
lucky - the 1S has all its lasers in the right arm, which got blown off
within three turns of trading fire. From there, it was a rather foregone
conclusion. However, to Pyro's credit, he didn't give up - even with a
severely crippled mech, he still continued fighting, giving me a few
scares as to whether he might succeed in blowing off a leg. I hope we
cross swords (or PPCs) again with more evenly matched mechs. |

The match was a lot
closer than I expected, with the Orion's LRM15 rack and AC10 doing some
nasty damage to my left leg inside a few turns, while I barely dented
his armour. When a crit lost me one of my large lasers, I thought the
fight was probably over, but we continued slugging it out for a while,
and eventually he lost his AC10. When I finally won init, I got a lucky
ammo crit on him, ending the fight. My condolences to Nicklamer, who

A very close match
against a very good mech. A few rounds in close almost assured my
destruction, when I had to dump LT SRM ammo and then lost one of my
lasers. The same round though did put two large lasers through his CT,
allowing me a chance, but I lost both arms and my LT in quick
succession. Finally, a laser followed by SRM destroyed his torso, which
for me was very lucky since he had all his weapons left. A well-fought

Another good match against KD,
this one ending in my favour. His LRMs internalled the left side of my
mech, barely getting scratched in the process. However, a one storey
building proved my saviour as it gave him partial cover on my mech, but
I was able to hit his with impunity. A few SRMs to my head gave me a

handed me victory. In the end, it was an ammo boom which won it for me,

A great general once
said he'd much rather be lucky than good, and this adage once again
proved true. There was no way I could have beaten Wags had I not been
obscenely lucky with initiative. A PPC to his head addled his sensors,
but he still never missed a shot. It was only a 91cf building that saved
me by soaking the damage that would otherwise have taken out my PPC. A
final init win allowed me to deliver a punch to the mongoose's head,
sending it into mech oblivion. Wags fought valiantly until the last
moment, and had that punch not hit his head, I would surely be lying on
my back unable to fight. My compliments on a duel well fought. |

On paper, the duel
probably looks fairly easy, what with the four gun advantage. However,
for most of the duel, it was very close - Venom (of Old Alliance)
actually drew first blood. Even when one arm was blown off he refused to

PPC found his CT two rounds running, coring him. A well fought duel for

after two large laser hits to my LT caused me to dump my SRM ammo before
the end of the fourth round. However, two kicks and a PPC took out his
leg, but during the exchange I sustained significant damage, losing all
my CT armour, and very quickly my LT and two heatsinks, reducing me to a
total of 8. The rest of the match consisted of hiding in a building at

jumping into the same patch of dense woods as my Stinger. Two MLs and a kick hit his

I started out pessimistic, as I am

fire, won a few inits, and got in a few hits with my PPC. Then I ended
up lagging out one fire phase and a move phase, and during those few
rounds took 2 5pt head hits. A while later, I was backed into a corner
and a single SRM caused two sensor crits, effectively making me 4/9,
followed by two gyro crits making me a 10/9 skill mech. At that point I
fell over and was unable to get back up for a while, though I still
managed to shoot every few rounds. Finally I stood up on a 10, and
