Released in 2000, The World Is Not Enough was an EA Games FPS based on the Bond film of the same title. There was a fair amount of uproar when The Terrorist decided that he would cover this game on his network, as up to that point, he had only created sites for Rare's games Goldeneye (still regarded by many as the best FPS ever) and Perfect Dark (also a much-revered game, but lacking some of Goldeneye's replay value). Still, he persevered, and despite someone grabbing the site terrordark.8m.com and putting up the infamous "COMMING SOON" notice (now replaced by "THIS SITE HAS BEEN HACKED BY KoRn Snake!"), a site eventually appeared.

TWINE polarised the TTF community, into those of us who thought it was a brilliant game and those who thought that it was a sucky piece of shit. I was truly in the former of these two camps. Hell, after a while I even got to moderate TTF's TWINE forum. But maybe I should talk about the game.

Visually pretty similar to Goldeneye, it copied Perfect Dark in that many weapons had secondary functions (and several were way more useful - the easy change from silenced to unsilenced PPK was nice), and the default controls were almost exactly the same, but with one major difference - the C up and down buttons were jump and crouch rather than look down and up. In PD, you never needed to jump (well... you wanted to, but that was besides the point). The story followed the movie plot, but like Goldeneye, took various excursions - in Goldeneye you got to play around finding Trevelyan's train, in TWINE you had a long dash through the streets of Istanbul in search of Zukovsky's henchman, Bullion, plus numerous other missions that were substantially different in the movie. Most notably for me, you don't ever attempt to disarm the bomb in Elektra's pipeline. One bad thing was that everything you could unlock through completing missions fast was merely an addition to the multiplayer, not a proper cheat (see cheat list with my times below - don't know whether those are still my best times). Still, the multiplayer itself rocked. I admit that I always played with explosive weapons - start with a grenade launcher, pick up four barrel guided-rocket launchers and "sticky grenades" which could wipe out half a level at a time. It's a pity there was a maximum of four players, but at least you could rename the simulants - though getting killed by "Treesim 1" was never much fun.

Soon, of course, people started boasting about their times, so MountainDewMan started his TWINE World Records site. I think I even got on it for my Midnight Departure Agent time. In my opinion, that was easily the best level - woodland semi-stealth. However, that wasn't the true stealth mission - in Night Watch, you got to sneak around Elektra's villa, stunning guards, disabling security cameras and finding secret documents exposing Davidov as a traitor. Ah... good times.

Unfortunately, the TWINE bubble burst - when The Terrorist decided to create the Detstar Gaming Community, TWINE no longer had a place. I lost my mod position, and everyone else forgot about about it. Still, for those of us who do remember... damn it rocked.
